Discord suffers leakage and warns users who had data exposed

Outsourced Support Provider suffered hacker invasion that exposed confidential data from Discord users
Discord confirmed a user data leakage after one of its outsourced service providers was the target of an attack.
According to the company, the incident occurred on September 20, when invaders were able to access information linked to the platform's customer support system.
Discord emphasized that its own servers were not compromised, and that the violation is restricted to the data stored by the outsourced company.

What data was leaked
According to the statement, cybercriminals may have obtained real name, username, email, contact data and the last four digits of credit cards linked to some accounts.

In more sensitive cases, there is also the possibility of identification documents, such as driver licenses and passports used to verify the age, have been exposed.
On the other hand, Discord ensures passwords, physical addresses and full credit card numbers remain protected.
Discord is alerting potentially affected users
The platform began sending email notifications to potentially affected users, with details about compromised information.
The warning is being referred even to people who do not have an active account in the service, but have already had any previous contact with the company's support or security teams.

In response to the attack, Discord reported immediately repealed outsourced company access, as well as notifying the competent authorities and adopting additional security measures.
The company has also promised to conduct more frequent audits on its external partners, reinforcing the commitment to ensure the privacy and protection of data from its global users base.
