Published on September 14, 2025

The Federal Police reported that they arrested in the act on Friday 12, eight members of a criminal organization identified for promoting attacks on the PIX system, administered by the Central Bank and operated by commercial banks. The group is suspected of practicing bank fraud against financial institutions and diverting PIX resources through invasions to the PI account, or the instant payment bill, which is an account held between banks and the central bank's instant payment system, which allows the registration and making within seconds of consumer pix payments.Invasions do not directly affect account holders' money, but rather the funds moved between financial institutions and the Central Bank. The arrests in the act, according to the PF, were converted into preventive, and those investigated will be able to respond for the crimes of criminal organization and attempted qualified theft by electronic means.PF investigations continue to search for others involved in deviation operations."The Federal Police reaffirms their commitment to combat electronic frauds and protection of the national financial system," the entity said in a statement.
