300 packages in almost 30 minutes: As part of the initiative "Germany recognizes sepsis", employees of the Forßmann Clinic in Eberswalde packed 300 packages with free information about sepsis. These are delivered to medical practices and pharmacies in the Uckermark, the Barnim and Märkisch Oderland.
Could it be sepsis?
"We are very satisfied with the campaign that we were able to go through in record time thanks to many helping hands," says Dr.Thomas Ihmann, chief physician of the clinic for anesthesiology, intensive care medicine and pain therapy.More than 20 volunteers had registered, which means that two pack roads could be built up.The entire information material should now find as many customers as possible.
The main message of the campaign is: "Could it be sepsis?"This crucial question should save lives because sepsis is often recognized too late.If sepsis is suspected, it is high time to call 112 immediately.
Sepsis develops when a local infection caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi or parasites cannot be contained by the body's immune response. The body reacts overly strongly and attacks its own tissue and organs, which ultimately leads to organ failure.
The initiative of the Clinic of the Society for Life and Health (GLG) is part of the nationwide campaign "Germany recognizes sepsis", which was launched in 2021 by the Action Alliance for Patient Safety e.V. (APS).It is financed by the Federal Ministry of Health and aims to raise awareness of the life -threatening illness among the population and medical staff.
