Copy the current link Add to watchlist Around a year after a nationwide raid against the operators of a child pornography platform on the Darknet with hundreds of thousands of users, five defendants have had to appear before the Mönchengladbach regional court since Wednesday.The public prosecutor's office accuses the men between the ages of 44 and 63 of making child and youth pornographic content publicly available as a gang. They are said to have been involved as moderators or administrators on the platform called Alice in Wonderland between 2019 and 2024.According to previous information, it was one of the longest-running platforms on the Darknet, which provided millions of images and videos of child abuse. According to the indictment, the five defendants were said to have been essential to the development and existence of the platform.One of their tasks was to ensure that users of self-produced content were made unrecognizable in order to make later prosecution more difficult. The defendants are also said to have possessed child pornography themselves.In some cases the age of the children shown was around one year.The trial was scheduled to last until mid-November. The platform was taken offline by the authorities in September 2024.More than 1,500 items of evidence, including laptops, computers and cell phones, were confiscated in a nationwide large-scale operation against several suspects.The large-scale operation was led by the Duisburg police.Six accused were arrested. According to information at the time, the size of the platform could hardly be estimated.For one defendant alone, 13.5 terabytes had to be evaluated, which corresponds to more than three million photos given a normal image size.Investigators estimated that the total amount of data would be in the petabyte range. A judgment in connection with the platform was already made in Lower Saxony in July.The Oldenburg regional court legally sentenced a 58-year-old user to two years and ten months in prison.According to court records, he was convicted of possessing and publishing child pornography.
