Published on September 20, 2025

This Saturday (20) the system used in various airports in Europe suffered a hacker attack, causing problems with check-in and boarding services, which delayed several flights.Heathrow airport in London was one of the most affected. Collins Aerospace, responsible for muse software, has confirmed that the action has impaired electronic passenger processing, which forced the airlines to resort to manual check-in information and luggage. In Brussels, ten flights had to be canceled, while others registered medical delays of about an hour. According to RTX, the controlling company of Collins, the problem affected only the passenger and luggage order system, and can be circumvented through manual procedures. The muse, a system involved, is used by about 300 airlines on different airports. This is the second security incident involving the supplier: by 2023, a ransomware attack would have exposed data from pilots and partner companies. Airport administrations have guided passengers to check the situation of their flights in advance. In London, British Airways reported that it was not affected thanks to an alternative system, while Delta Air Lines and Easyjet reported minimal impacts. In Berlin, the terminal warned for longer lines than usual, but Frankfurt airport confirmed that there were no interruptions.
