Published on September 14, 2025
- It seems to be all the material you have come across, he says.
IT entrepreneur Jens Nylander has looked through the lists of information published on Darknet on Sunday. He notes that over 1.2 million tasks have leaked.
Was affected by the data leak: "It's very scary"
The leak comes from the environmental data system, a company that delivers HR systems to 80 percent of Sweden's municipalities. At the end of August, the data breach was discovered in environmental data.On Sunday, the information was published on Darknet.
- It is the biggest leak in terms of the number within my time as an entrepreneur in tech, says Jens Nylander.
Protected persons' details found
Nylander has found address information belonging to persons with protected population records. In Stockholm he found 200 cases.
The City of Stockholm has previously said that protected information was not in the material. But on Sunday, the municipality writes in an email that it cannot be excluded. An investigation into how it may have happened has begun.
Nylander has discovered even more cleared information in the rest of the country.
- How big the dark figure is, I don't know. But that there are information that has leaked is quite clear, says Jens Nylander.
At the same time, he says that the addresses can be old.He has not been able to identify whether information to people with a protected identity leaked, which is a reason why there may be a dark figure.
Jens Nylander may not know for sure why the protected information was in the system - or whether it is due to the environmental data or the employer.
- It looks like you didn't have a routine to manage these information, otherwise they would not be in the system.
The consequences of the leak
The amount of information and that some belong to people with protected information, Jens Nylander believes is serious.
- It certainly has major consequences even if you tried to tone it down.
When the material ends up on Darknet, it gets spread in circles that can use the material for crime as fraud, says Nylander. In the leak there is a large number of e-mail addresses, which can be used to send e-mails in order to be deceived.
- There will probably be a sequence of this, he says.
Is it possible to save this now?
- No, now we can only learn from this and that personal data is important.
