The cyber attack was promoted by the Salt Typhoon group and would have stolen information from virtually all Americans
United States authorities accuse China's government connecting with several hacker attacks in recent years.According to them, Beijing would be encouraging actions to steal sensitive information in an attempt to gain advantage in the dispute over global hegemony.
However, none of this would be comparable to the damage done by a large -scale cyber attack promoted by a group known as Salt Typhoon.According to an investigation of over a year, information from virtually all Americans may have been stolen.

Even ordinary people were affected by the cyber attack
According to the FBI, the hacker attack has reached over 80 countries.
It was a coordinated offensive of several years that infiltrated large in telecommunications companies and other sectors.
Stolen data would allow Chinese intelligence services to exploit global communication networks to track targets, including politicians, spies and activists.
British and American authorities described the attack as "without restrictions" and "indiscriminate".
Canada, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan and Spain were also the target of the action.
It is unclear whether the Salt Typhoon attack also aimed to store ordinary people data.

According to information from the newspaper O Globo, the attack is a proof of China's cyber abilities.Just a decade ago, the Chinese used more rudimentary techniques to try to access commercial secrets, personal information and government data from Western countries.
Researchers have linked Salt Typhoon's action to at least three technology companies based on Chinese territory and operating since at least 2019. The joint statement said companies worked for China's military and civil intelligence agencies, which conduct abroad operations.
