Press release: foaming hacker attack on the Veneto Consiglio website

(ARV) Venice 9 Set.2025 - Last weekend the website of the Veneto Regional Council was the subject of a computer attack by a group of Russian hackers, claimed within the Telegram channel of the Anonymous Russia group.This was reported by the President of the Veneto Regional Council, Roberto Ciambetti.The Veneto Region, in order to strengthen its defenses, has decided to make use of an innovative defensive tool - the Cert (Computer Emergency Response Team) - promoting the definition of a project aimed at a better management of safety accidents and the establishment of an Authority.The Regional Cert acts as a connection point between local authorities, public local administrations, investee companies, instrumental bodies, Italian CSIRT, CNAIPIC and any other bodies/companies that request it.To date, the perimeter of the Cert counts 38 regional bodies, divided into 5 reference groups.The Cert Mission is multiple: to provide support and assistance in the analysis of computer threats and in the coordination of accidents;facilitate the dissemination of information regarding the new risk scenarios and ongoing attacks;encourage the application of safety management processes;facilitate prevention and monitoring activities of cybernetic events in the area;Collaborate and cooperate with other national and international organizations in the enhancement and improvement of the defensive capacity of Cyber Security organizations;increase the specialist skills of cybernetic security staff and improve awareness activities on these issues locally.The regional Cert, in Sinesse, aims to enhance the level of cyber resilience of information systems for the safety of citizens' data and services.
"The attack was foiled thanks to the security systems of the computer system of the regional council, which limited the disservices to public users: therefore my thanks go to the quality and effectiveness of the work," concluded the president.
