The dream was to drive all the way to the Italian Amalfi coast. The Färsjö family from Stockholm had made a similar trip earlier, but at that time they ran a charging hybrid.Unfortunately, they ended up driving on gasoline operation most of the road because it took far too long to charge the car.But a couple of months before the holidays, they decided to get a new car, and this time a pure electric car was the only option.Following careful testing of electricity entirely different brands and models, the choice finally fell on a Polestar 4. The new car cruised in all the boxes on the checklist when it came to used for everyday life's large documents, picked up and leaving training as well as trips to and from work. But before the longer trip to Southern Europe, there was still some concern.
- When we talked about it before, we were a little hesitant.According to the map, it was 280 miles - easy road - and suddenly it felt very long to drive with an electric car. What worried us was how long it would take to charge, and that we did not know what the charging infrastructure in Europe looks like. But we thought we will not know what it is if we do not test.So we started planning with Amalfi as one of the goals during the three -week trip, says Therese Färsjö.
Unjustified concern
It would turn out that the anxiety was completely unjustified. After examining the alternatives, they chose the charging network that had the best coverage and lowest prices on the route. Then it was just to enter how long the day stage they intended, so the Google system suggested on the large practical screen a route with planned charging breaks.
- It was both practical and comfortable. After a day, we had also learned to check if there was a good restaurant in connection with the charging station, so that both we and the car had to charge with new energy before we went on.
All gasket in the trunk
Another thing that surprised positively was the luggage compartment. If you want to be gone for three weeks, the car will be easily full of the gasket and the family owns no roof box.
- In previous trips, we have always had to store a lot of packing inside the car.We were surprised that this car swallows so much.We got just everything in the luggage compartment. It made the car trip a lot more comfortable.

The car distressed
On the German highways it can go terribly fast and when a family is out traveling it is important with safety. The Färsjö family soon noticed that the 544 horsepower, which means that you accelerate up to 100 km/h in under four seconds came in handy when they would make overtaking on the Autobahn.
- But we also discovered that Polestar 4 has a very good emergency brake function. It became a situation where a car drove us on the inside and straight in front of us so fast that we did not have to slow down, but then the car braked and had it not done so we probably would have crashed there on the highway.
Folding rear seat
One son in the family becomes easily sick if he does not sit in the car, which meant that one of the adults often had to sit in the back seat. But in Polestar 4, this does not mean a worse standard for passengers in the back.Even in the rear seat you can control the music that flows out of the Bowers & Wilkins sound system, but above all, the folding rear seats make you sit just as comfortably there as you do in the front seat.
- On the way home we took a real long run between Czech Karlovy Vary and Malmö.It was a trip of 110 miles, but I didn't even have a little wood flavor in the back when we arrived - and then I still sat in the back seat all the way, says Therese Färsjö.
How else did you divide the driving during the trip?
- The idea from the beginning was that we would share in the driving, but Fredrik, my husband, thought the car was so nice to drive that he was driving all the way.It was 663 miles in total through nine countries.I chose the music, distributed snacks and made sure no one cheated in car bingo.
