Here it is requested to enter a telephone number to be able to confirm the choice made and the participation in the survey.In the next step, hackers obtain possession of the entered telephone number and can request an access code from the web version of WhatsApp. Once the victim inserts the sequence on connected devices, the scammer can access both the account and the chat of the affected victim.Kaspersky warns that this new trend of online votes has already ended up in the sights of online attackers, who therefore begin to use it for their criminal activities.Even one click is enough and you risk losing everything. How to defend yourself So what can be done to avoid falling into the phishing scam trap on WhatsApp?As explained by Kaspersky, first it would be better not to connect their devices via suspicious websites, because this could compromise access to your profile.
