The Northeim district has been working with a security service for some time to ensure security in the district hall and, in particular, smooth operations for the public, including at public meetings. The district administration has now informed all district council members about this. The AfD district council group took this as an opportunity to send a request to District Administrator Astrid Klinkert-Kittel.The reasons given in the letter to the district council members for the deployment of the security service are questioned. They are not suitable to permanently justify the commissioning of a private security service, writes the AfD and refers to the district's representation that the security service also helps with the operation of the stair lift if necessary and has taken on fire protection tasks. If it was really just about service and helpfulness, it would be the job of the in-house security department to take on this task with its own staff, according to the AfD.There is much more suspicion that “there have actually been attacks or security-related problems that should not be openly named.”Among other things, the AfD is demanding that all incidents in the last five years that have been relevant to security in the district hall be named. In response to HNA's request, the district administration announced that the private security service had already been deployed in the district building in 2019.The reason for this is the increasing violence, which is directed against the entire spectrum of public services and ranges from insults and damage to property to threats and attacks such as psychological and physical violence. The district administration emphasizes that the increasing tendency towards violence, including against employees of the district administration, and prevention as the primary goal of occupational safety provide the basis for the deployment of the security service, and not a specific event. Rumors that there were even death threats against employees of the immigration office and that this was the actual reason for the increased security precautions were not confirmed by the district administration.“We do not comment on possible individual cases for reasons of protecting employees,” said a spokeswoman for the district. Every employer or employer must ensure the occupational safety of their employees, the district administration's statement continues.Violence against employees can occur at any time in the public service.
